View threshold alerts

Threshold alerts can be set. If a threshold is reached, an alert is generated.

About this task

Steps

  1. Select Settings icon to open the Settings panel.
  2. Select Alerts > System Threshold and Alerts.
  3. Select All or a specific storage system.
    The following properties display :
    • Name—Category on which the threshold is defined. Possible values are:
SRP Effective Used Capacity Threshold event that reflects the effective used capacity (as percentage) for the SRP.
SRP Effective Capacity Resource Usage Threshold event that the SRP effective capacity resource usage has exceeded the threshold (applies to storage system running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079).
SRP Over Provisioned Capacity Threshold event based on the value of the Over Provisioning Threshold (configurable in Modify Storage Resource Pool details). For example, when the Over Provisioning Threshold is set to 200% (default) and the SRP Over Provisioned Capacity alert critical threshold is set to 80% (default), a critical alert is triggered when the provisioned percentage is at 160% (80% of 200%) (applies to storage system running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079)).
SRP Physical Capacity Threshold event that reflects that the SRP physical capacity has exceeded the threshold (applies to storage system running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079)).
Storage Container Utilization Threshold event that indicates that the storage container utilization usage has exceeded the threshold.
Local Replication Utilization Threshold event that indicates that the local replication resource usage has exceeded the threshold. This category only applies to storage systems running HYPERMAX OS 5977 Q1 2016 SR or later. For storage systems running PowerMaxOS 5978, you can create Threshold Alerts, not only for the SRP as a whole, but specifically for the FBA and CKD capacity areas of the SRP. In practice, if an FBA Threshold Alert Policy is created with a threshold of 80%, an alert is generated when 80% of the FBA capacity is used regardless of the amount of the SRP that consists of FBA storage or the amount of CKD storage used.
System Meta Data Utilization Threshold event that indicates that the system meta data Utilization usage has exceeded the threshold. This category only applies to storage systems running HYPERMAX OS 5977 Q1 2017 SR or higher.
Frontend Meta Data Usage Threshold event that indicates that the front-end meta data usage has exceeded the threshold. This category only applies to storage systems running PowerMaxOS 5978.
Backend Meta Data Usage Threshold event that indicates that the back-end meta data usage has exceeded the threshold. This category only applies to storage systems running PowerMaxOS 5978.
Snapshot SRP Utilization Threshold event that the snapshot SRP resource usage has exceeded the threshold. This category only applies to storage systems running PowerMaxOS 5978 Q3 2020.
    • Warning—Percentage of utilization at which point a warning alert is issued.
    • Critical—Percentage of utilization at which point a critical alert is issued.
    • Fatal—Percentage of utilization at which point a fatal alert is issued.
    • Custom—Whether the policy has been customized.
    • Enabled—Whether the policy is Enabled or Disabled.
    • Notifications—Whether the alert notification option is enabled (Email, SYSLOG, or SNMP) or disabled (NONE) for the alert.
